KOTA KINABALU: A total of 158 illegals were nabbed here yesterday during a joint operation led by the Sabah National Security Council. The integrated operation involving various agencies ran from 12.30am to 8.30pm yesterday. “399 people were checked and out of that number, 158 (143 Filipinos and 15 Indonesians) were remanded for being in this state illegally. “Those remanded are aged between 13 and 55 and are currently placed at Papar temporary detention centre,” a statement from the state council said. The statement also revealed that so far this year, 18,083 illegals have been deported from Sabah to their home countries. The figure comprises 14,254 Filipinos, 3,656 Indonesians and 173 individuals of other nationalities. Next »
