Kiwi driver Shane van Gisbergen looks set to keep most of his big lead in the Supercars championship, with Triple Eight Racing losing the battle to change their appeal on the big incident at Bathurst last weekend. In a crash 11 laps from the end of the great race, Jamie Whincup, driving Triple Eight’s Red Bull Racing car was penalised 15 seconds for pulling a risky overtaking manoeuvre on Scott McLaughlin, which effectively took out McLaughlin and Garth Tander. The penalty meant Whincup couldn’t win the race, even though he was the first across the finishing line. Will Davison and Jonathan Webb were crowned the winners.
