Game not over: Bernie Sanders could slip ‘write-in’ to presidential election victory

Vermont, which has three electoral votes, is one of seven US states where voters can write-in vote for anyone for president, regardless of the person’s actual intention to lead the country. The other six include Iowa, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, all of which combined have 58 electoral votes. Another 34 states allow write-ins as well, but those votes would only be counted if paperwork is submitted by a candidate prior to the election. Nine states do not practice write-in, meaning that voters there would be stuck with Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton or third party candidates, for example, Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson or Green Party nominee Jill Stein. This year, the write-in opportunity seems to be an attractive option for many…

Plant, an idea “Man does not live by salad alone.” When Dr. R. Saravanan pronounced this or words to that effect, my anxious heart calmed down. The 32-year-old homeopath was in town to talk about plant-based food and was rounding up the session with a gluten-free, dairy-free, oil-free and sugar-free buffet. So, in my fevered imagination, I imagined a table groaning under sprouts, lettuce, barley and may be some fruits and bird seed that would be dinner. I am relieved to report it wasn’t. It was a surprisingly tasty and filling meal, worthy of second helpings too. But more about that later. “Rethink Food” was the subject under discussion. Dr. Saravanan said that he had come to the conclusion that the right diet...
